We’ve returned from Montreal where we attended the first ever Fantasia Industry Rendez-Vous and International Co-Production Market. We learned a lot about the possibilities for setting up feature film projects in conjunction with other countries around the world. As the film community becomes more globalized this will be an essential part of the business to understand. We also participated in a panel on Transmedia during which we were able to share our experiences with crowd-funding and also talk about the importance of engaging an audience during the production of a film, not just in preparation for release.
Being at the Market also allowed us to meet a lot of amazing filmmakers and distributors. Fantasia is very similar to Fantastic Fest in that it is all contained within a small area and very much designed around enabling attendees to socialize with one another. We were able to see a lot of old friends and meet a lot of new ones which was one of the greatest gifts of this trip. Huge thanks to Stephanie Trepanier for inviting us to participate.
We’re getting closer to a finished edit of the film every day, and we have several other announcements to make in the next few weeks. Keep the faith, video brethren. The finish line is in sight.
